The Madrona

Hospitality

Informations

Built in 1881 in the hills above Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley, the Madrona is a Victorian estate with a past life and a sharp new one. When designer Jay Jeffers and his partners took over in 2021, they found interiors that were heavy, dark, and moody, and set about brightening the place, guided by the wit and irreverence of the Aesthetic Movement. The result is a hotel that wears its history lightly: antiques beside contemporary art, peacocks and rabbits and bunny-ear chairs, misty mornings and tangerine sunsets. Saint-Lazare translated this world into a brand identity as playful and precise as the property itself, elegant enough to match the mansion, cheeky enough to mean it.
